• GYM

  • I have never had an exercise program before. How will I know what to do and how to exercise safely?

Not a problem at all. We understand that starting an exercise program for the first time can sometimes be a little intimidating. Therefore as a new member, you are assigned with your own fitness professional who will guide, support and motivate you through those important early stages.

After an initial PARC Start session, your fitness professional will design an individualised exercise program, specifically designed to meet your goals. Not only that but every 5 weeks your membership entitles you to a re-assessment to ensure that you are on track with your fitness goals.

Fitness Professional are always available on the gym floor to answer any questions or to assist you with your program between appointments.

  • What do I need to bring for my workouts?

A small towel and we recommend a drink bottle. There is a water station located in the gym foyer and on gym floor where you can fill up your bottle.

  • Can I leave my bag in the gym while working out?

Unfortunately, no. PARC provides lockers free of charge to members; causals are able to hire the use of a temporary locker. Lockers are located throughout the centre. Please do not bring any valuables into the Centre as PARC will not be responsible for items that go missing.

  • What are your gym rules?

    • Follow staff instructions at all times

  • When do lessons run?

PARC Swim operates a 44 week program each year. A calendar of dates is published annually.

  • Do lessons run on Public Holidays?

No. You are more than welcome to bring the family down for a swim on a public holiday in addition to the student and Responsible Adult.

  • Can I suspend my membership over the school holidays?

We operate a 44 week program with some lessons running in the school holidays. If you suspend for more than 4 consecutive weeks during non-school holiday periods, you will not be guaranteed the same lesson day and time upon your return. A maximum of 8 weeks suspension is permitted in any calendar year.

  • I’m going on holiday for two weeks when lessons are on. What can I do? ?

You may suspend your membership for those two weeks as long as we receive prior notice.

  • My child is sick and unable to attend his class. Can I have a makeup class?

    There are three options here:

    1. Ask for a makeup lesson. One makeup class per term is offered and is subject to space available. You must give us notice prior to the lesson that your child will not be attending.
    2. If you can bring in a medical certificate, we will place a credit on your account.
    3. You can use your suspension allowance.
  • I have a full PARC Swim membership – what is included?

The student and a responsible adult can come to the pool at any time outside of the student’s regular lesson time. This is a great opportunity for your child to practise their skills which will aid retention. You can book a makeup class if you miss a lesson (as long as you have let us know you won’t be coming) and you also receive discounts on other PARC products eg Birthday Parties and receive priority booking on our huge inflatable obstacle course – Splashtown in the school holidays. You also receive a car parking pass to use when you visit the Centre.

  • I have a lesson only membership – what is included?

This is a lesson only option – 44 weeks each calendar year. If your child is sick and you bring in a medical certificate, a credit will be placed on your account. You also receive a car parking pass to use when you visit the Centre.

  • I have a lesson only membership – can I use the pool before and after my lesson?

Yes – you can come in up to 30 minutes prior to your lesson and you can stay as long as you like after the class.

  • What is your progression guarantee?

We guarantee that your child will progress up a level at least once every 30 weeks. (You must have attended 27/30 lessons). If your child has not progressed, we will offer a second lesson for free each week until they do.

  • Can my child move class at any time? ?

Yes – just ask one of our team to help you with this.

  • How is my child assessed?

Students are assessed by their teacher on an ongoing basis. We enter the information into our system and you will receive an email, at least once a term, notifying you of your child’s progress. You are then able to login to our online parent portal to see the information.

  • Do I have to stay and watch my child in their lesson?

Yes, if your child is under 10. For students over 10 and under 13, you need to be present in the building.

  • Do you give out certificates as the children progress?

Our parent portal gives you the opportunity to print your certificates for your child. You will also have your child’s PARC Swim Journey booklet in which you can record their progress.

  • Are the slides open during lesson times?

The slides are open between 4.00pm – 7.00pm weekdays; 10.00am – 6.00pm weekends and Public Holidays. During School holidays, the slides operate between 10.00am – 7.00pm.

  • What should my child bring to lessons?

Well-fitting bathers (one piece preferable), goggles and towel. All learn to swim equipment is provided eg. noodles and kickboards.

  • Does my child need goggles?

In the early stages, goggles are not necessary but as they start to put their faces in the water, goggles enable them to see under the water and protect their eyes.

  • Does my child need a swim cap?

No – not necessary but if the child has long hair, please ensure it is tied back and out of the face.

  • I want to cancel my lessons – what do I do?

You need to complete a cancellation form and give us 14 days’ notice.

  • Will I always have the same teacher?

We try to ensure teacher consistency but this is not always possible. PARC Swim has a set program so if a regular teacher is absent, the teacher covering will teach all the skills necessary for that level. A different teacher can have a positive effect, often able to give different teaching points to master a certain skill.

  • How long will it take for my child to be able to swim?

Children learn at different rates. The best way to learn is to have consistent attendance over the year and to reinforce and consolidate what is learned in the lesson with practise outside lesson times.

  • How do I get in contact with you? ?

    You can call or email PARC Swim directly. T: 03 9781 8428 E: parcswim@parcfrankston.com.au
